Are you ready to start your own private practice or feeling stuck with how it’s going?

  • You’re nervous about going out on your own after working for other people

  • You’re doubting your own competency, skills, and knowledge

  • You’re not sure where to start, what you need, or where to look

  • You’re apprehensive about setting/raising your fees, procedures, and boundaries

  • After years of cohorts, coworkers, and supervisors now that you’re on your own you’re just feeling more alone and wanting additional support

You got the degree, training, and license… Now what?!

Maybe you’ve worked for years for agencies, groups, and other people and you’re finally ready to branch out on your own.

It can be really scary and intimidating! So much so that many qualified professionals never do it. The fact that you’re feeling called to start your own business shows a drive, passion, and desire to make an impact that many other people simply don’t possess.

You might have heard this in grad school like I have, “private practice can be lonely.”

This is something that took me a few years to really feel. At first, I was so excited to work for myself I really didn’t mind being alone (and not having to answer to anyone else!).

Then I was so preoccupied with clients and learning about business, SEO, bookkeeping, and marketing that I felt disconnected from my peers. Many of them weren’t in private practice yet and couldn’t relate to what I was going through as a business-owner.

Now that I’ve been in practice for about 4 years (successfully maintaining 6-figure years from the get-go while seeing clients only 3 days a week and running a second business), I’ve accumulated tons of resources, business knowledge, and the mindset to support you in starting and growing your own private practice.

MD, Clinical Psychologist

“Alice boosted my confidence to maintain boundaries with patients and charge the fee that I believe my services are worth.”

What can you do for me?

I can help you get your ducks in a row if you’re just getting started and examine what might be keeping you stuck if you’ve been doing it alone for a while.

Running a business is a roller coaster of emotions, and as much as we help our clients regulate their emotions, we need to do the same when it comes to our work. Not to mention applying actual business strategies so that you can make money and have a life without burning out.

Depending on your stage in business (pre-private practice, just starting, or been at it for a while), we’ll collaborate to come up with the best action plan for you. You might need just a little bit of guidance and pointing in the right direction, you might just need the right tools and resources, or you might want a partner through it all - wherever you are, breathe.

We’ll get it all done together, one step at a time. Or if you’re anything like me, it might be 5 steps in different directions, but in the end it all gets done just the same.

Michelle Barahman, Clinical Psychologist

“Alice empowered me to take the leap into private practice, assisted me in identifying my niche, and demonstrated an unwavering adherence to the highest ethical standards.”

what can i expect?

After a brief consultation call to see if it’s a good fit, we’ll come up with a plan that works for both of us. It might include ongoing calls or video meetings, email and chat options, and more or less support depending on what you need.

Here are a few sample plans:

  1. Power Hour - A one hour call to assess where you’re at and what you need to do next. I help you create an action plan and you implement on your own.

  2. Follow Ups - Available by email or chat apps to increase accountability and troubleshoot any problems.

  3. Ongoing Support - Weekly, biweekly, or monthly meetings and/or chat support to work through longer-term projects and tasks, learn new skills, and address mindset blocks (for example, money mindset, boundary-setting, people-pleasing, imposter syndrome, burnout, etc.)

“You were very helpful in terms of motivating me to start a private practice in the beginning. You also encouraged me to have the confidence to set the rate I deserved. Lastly whenever I would get stuck/have questions you would always be there to troubleshoot and even did a mock consultation call with me which was super helpful.”

This is not therapy

This is absolutely not therapy. It is a supportive container for you to expand your mindset and grow your business from someone who’s been there. We are peers and colleagues. This is why we can create plans including calls, video, email, and chat support. Yes, there are still boundaries around our work together, but they are different from those we have with clients.

Meetings are still confidential but they are not designed to diagnose or treat any mental health concerns. If you need that kind of support, we can discuss if my therapy services are appropriate for you, or if you would like to work with another therapist (or already are) while you and I work on your business mindset.

The services offered on this page are intended to provide additional support in the form of consultation, coaching, and mentorship. They are based in my personal experiences running my own private practice and supporting my peers along the way. As such, they are not eligible for any kind of insurance reimbursement and are entirely private pay.

Please note, I did not go to business school and am not offering professional advice of any kind. However, I can offer personal anecdotes, experiences, resources, and mindset shifts that have tremendously helped me create and maintain a successful 6-figure business with relative ease. This includes any and all parts of working On my business (marketing, sales, website, SEO, fees, paperwork, etc.) as well as In my business (offering therapy related to stress, anxiety, and OCD via different modalities including CBT, ERP, ACT, mindfulness, etc.).

“Alice can always be counted on for helpful insights and advice in navigating the complexities of being a mental health provider. Her many years of experience, business acumen and entrepreneurial spirit make her a force to be reckoned with in the mental health care space.”

is this for me?

I am offering this service to any professional looking to start or expand their business mindset or entrepreneurial journey. My primary experience is in supporting therapists, coaches, and other service providers in the helping professions. However, if you think we might be a good fit or you have questions, feel free to contact me and describe your situation so we can decide together if this is the best service for you at this time.

Why you?

I have supported numerous peers and colleagues in deciding to start their own private practice, navigating legal and ethical challenges, consulting on cases, and expanding their mindset related to imposter syndrome, money blocks, boundaries, time, energy, organization, and many other challenges that come to light when you become a business owner and/or work independently.

Friends and acquaintances regularly reach out to me specifically for my perspective on their business and how they can think about and show up in it differently to experience more success, money, freedom, time, and happiness.

I have been featured in Forbes, Authority Magazine, Medium, and various podcasts to discuss how I run my two businesses, help clients, and lead a mindful, multi-passionate, values-based life.

I’m a licensed clinical psychologist and a mindfulness mindset coach. In therapy and in life, I’m passionate about helping people create and live a life they love.

Irina Khrapatina, Clinical Psychologist

“Alice is a compelling source of guidance and inspiration in teaching therapists how to care for themselves by setting up thoroughly structured, boundaried businesses that embody the concept of taking care of yourself so you can take care of others.

Her wealth of knowledge and resources lends itself to creative, flexible thinking and problem solving around business strategies and navigating client relationships in ways that allow the therapist to meet their clients needs while caring for their own needs.

She embodies the concept that firm boundaries create safety and allow for the work to happen and teaches clinicians how to show up in ways that genuinely prioritize what’s best for the client in the long-term and promote healing.”

Since this is not a therapy-based service, I offer it through my coaching website, TogetherMindful.com. Rest assured, it is still me offering all services.
